Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician I

JOBSUMMARY

To assist FleetTechnician II and Fleet Technician III in providing safe, reliableand cost-efficient vehicles by learning to perform qualitypreventive maintenance inspections and repairs as well as learningto diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns onroad,

reduce vehicle downtime and improve total fleetreliability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Learnto perform required inspections and preventive maintenance underthe guidance of fleet technician II & III or fleet manager onvehicles and equipment to maximize the safety, reliability, andcost efficiency throughout the life cycle of thefleet.

Learn to performFAI / CVI (Annual) (First Article Inspection - Commercial VehicleInspection) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors,trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and any othercompany-owned equipment under theguidance

of fleet technicianII & III or fleet supervisor or manager in accordance with allfederal, state and local legal and regulatory agencies.

Includesall state-required inspections andfrequencies).

Learn toperform quality preventive maintenance inspections per companymethods under the guidance of fleet technician II & III, fleetsupervisor or manager on all fleet vehicles including tractors,trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates, light-dutyvehicles,

and any othercompany-ownedequipment.

Learn to performquality maintenance repairs under the guidance of fleet technicianII & III or fleet supervisor or manager as required to maximizesafety and reliability on all fleet vehicles including tractors,trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates,light-duty

vehicles, and anycompany-ownedequipment.

Learn to performmaintenance repairs on all vehicles under the guidance of fleettechnician II & III or fleet supervisor or managers such asinspections, scheduled repairs, malfunctions and road-call repairsin a safe, efficient, timely andquality

manner.

Addressall driver vehicle inspection report write-ups timely, efficientlyand correctly the first time under the guidance of fleet technicianII & III or fleet supervisor ormanager.

Diagnose cause ofany malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer specificationsincluding but not limited to engines, transmissions and clutches,drive-line, differential, steering and suspension, fuel andignition system, exhaustsystems

includingregeneration systems), intake systems, electrical systems, brakesystems, HVAC systems and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical andelectrical systems under the guidance of fleet technician II &III or fleet supervisor ormanager.

Follow proceduresincluding documenting all work performed on work order usingcomplaint, cause, and correction format under the guidance of fleettechnician II & III or fleet supervisor ormanager.

Learn and developefficiency in Sysco computer programs under the guidance of fleettechnician II & III or fleet supervisor ormanager

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Medium / HeavyDuty truck technical training 2-year school(preferred)

l High schooldiploma or equivalentrequired

Experience

Noexperience required

Currentand valid driver's license (CDLPreferred)

ProfessionalSkills

Basicknowledge and skill of all vehicle systems andcomponents

Basic knowledgeand skill in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on allequipment

Basic knowledgeand skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG,TIG)

Basic computer skillsandknowledge

Qualifications

Techniciansmust own and provide all tools (diagnostic equipment and majortools provided by Sysco) necessary to perform all maintenanceinspections, repair anddiagnostics.

Apprentice willhave performance reviews regularly to determine areas ofimprovement and areas that require additional training anddevelopment

Annual InspectorCertification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Preferred, NotRequired)

Brake InspectorCertification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Preferred, NotRequired)

ASE certifications Automotive or Medium / Heavy Duty Trucks (Preferred, NotRequired)

609 HVACCertification (Preferred, NotRequired)

Working knowledgeof computer-based diagnostic software for OEM’s and componentmanufacturers

Apprenticewill be required to complete Sysco SIU training modules for safetyand other requiredcourses.

PhysicalDemands

Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyrequired to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reachwith hands and arms, talk andhear.

The employee isfrequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bendor crawl.

The employee isoccasionally required to sit and must frequently lift and / or moveup to 100lbs.

The employeeis Repair work requires excellent hand and finger dexterity usedfor wrenches, hand tools, and other shopequipment.

Specific visionabilities required by this job include close vision, distancevision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and theability to adjustfocus

WorkingConditions

Whileperforming the duties of this job, the associate is occasionallyexposed to wet, hot, extreme cold and / or humid conditions;

andmoving mechanical parts and may be required to work in confinedspaces.

• The associate may occasionally berequired to travel to other operating companies or the corporateoffice as business needs dictate (i.
