Purpose of the Position :
The purpose of the Principal Research Engineer VI will be to serve as the Associate Director of the IDEAS Laboratory within the Research Institute.
The incumbent will assist the RI Deputy Director in identifying potential funding sources and developing proposals as necessary.
The incumbent will also manage several STEM education projects and spaceflight hardware development projects within the lab.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Serve as Associate Director of the IDEAS Laboratory within RI
- Identify new funding opportunities for the IDEAS Lab. Work with the Director of the IDEAS Lab to develop new proposals to submit to external funding organizations
- Manage STEM education projects and space flight hardware development efforts within the iCUBED Laboratory
- Coordinate efforts across UAH and with other universities to develop collaborations that can be funded by external organizations
Minimum Requirements :
- Ph.D. or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
- 9.5 years of full-time verifiable work experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

- Ph.D. in an engineering discipline
- Previous work experience in a university setting
