Duties
Under the supervision of the Director, the Job Resource Specialist (full-time, grant-funded) prepares and connects students, alumni, and community job seekers for the world of work.
The Job Resource Specialist (full-time, grant-funded) assists in the coordination of the Student Employment Program and provides awareness of occupations in which women or men comprise less than 25 percent of the workforce through the Non-Traditional Career Program.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.
- Provide in-person and virtual appointments, presentations and events to students, alumni, community members and employers.
- Teach job seekers how to tailor resumes and cover letters to match requirements and qualifications of job postings.
- Proofread, correct, edit cover letters, resumes and other job search materials.
- Provide career and job search assistance to a diverse community, student, and alumni population (e.g., job search strategies, interview preparation, professional marketing & branding, dressing for success, professionalism in the workplace and networking tips).
- Coordinate aspects of the Student Employment Program (including orientations and professional development for student employees and supervisors).
- Promote awareness of Non-Traditional Careers to students through technology, programs, outreach, and career related services and events.
- Plan, market, promote and assess events, programs, and initiatives.
- Track and document recruitment, retention, completion, and GPA of students served.
- Implement career related professional development, informational and recruiting events that connect employers with students, alumni, community job seekers.
- Prepare reports, evaluations, surveys and provide data analysis to demonstrate optimal effectiveness, strategic impact, and departmental success.
- Other duties as assigned
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of (1) year of experience advising or coaching in the areas of job, career, employment, workforce, or vocational development required.

- Desire to develop competencies to serve diverse and underrepresented populations.
- Service-oriented with high emotional intelligence, critical thinking skills, good judgement, and interpersonal abilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to present information to various audiences of all sizes via in-person or virtual platforms.
- Strong computer literacy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to utilize career management software (CRM)
- Ability to collect, read and interpret data.
- Strong organizational skills; must be able to meet deadlines, manage time effectively, and operate in a team-oriented environment.
- Capability to work in teams, independently and be a self-starter is a must.
- Experience in virtual communication tools and familiarity with the professional use of social media.
- A desire to foster equity and inclusion in department and throughout the college.
