We are currently seeking an experienced Property Accountant for our corporate office . Under the direction of the Controller, the P roperty A ccountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of real estate assets and the funds invest in these assets.
The position is generally responsible for closing the books and records for approximately 12 to 15 properties and all ancillary accounting related to these assets.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage general ledgers for multiple properties
- Prepare detailed monthly and year-end work papers
- Reconcile and analyze all balance sheet accounts which included reviewing loan documentation and agreements to ensure proper accounting practices
- Analyze & reconcile Gross Potential Rent for multiple properties
- Ensure proper coding of all invoices or payables associated with assigned entities
- Prepare monthly financial management reports to be utilized at Board meetings
- Review monthly budget to actual variance reports and prepare variance explanations
- Review bank loan balances, as well as, escrows & reserves
- Coordinate with Regional, Site and Property Managers
- Manage all accrual and cash basis accounting functions for 20 separate entities
- Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end closings for multiple ledgers
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and other documentations to ensure that transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare detailed quarterly and year-end work papers
- Maintain fixed asset ledger and tenant amortization
- Perform general ledger analysis, account reconciliations, and propose adjusting journal entries
- Review budgets, operational performance, and assist in variance analysis preparation
- Update all balance sheet account reconciliations monthly
- Timely preparation of monthly financial packages for a portfolio of properties
- Respond to owners, investors, and auditors inquiries
- Prepare year-end audit work papers
- Collaborate with auditors to complete the fiscal year end audit for a portfolio of properties
- Any other responsibilities that may be assigned
Qualifications for this position
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in affordable property management utilizing property management accounting software systems, preferably OneSite
- Proficient in Excel and Word
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong awareness on internal controls and company procedures
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong interpersonal skills : must be able to communicate with owners, clients, and senior staff
