Seattle Public Schools is on the lookout for an enthusiastic Native American Education Program Manager to lead our impactful program!
Manages the activities and services of the Native American Education Program. Works closely with the Native American Education Intervention Coordinator to ensure that program activities and services are provided in accordance with federal and district regulations.

Essential Functions
- Manages assigned staff, develops priorities, assigns tasks and projects, and ensures that appropriate services are provided.
- Develops staff skills and conducts performance evaluations.
- Meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve priorities, workload and technical issues.
- Performs required administrative functions.
- Monitors budgets, revenue and expenses.
- Develops and processes administrative and technical documents and financial reports.
- Works with school and Central Office staff to create a positive learning climate for Native American students.
- Assists in the scheduling and logistics of professional development for school staff.
- Provides clarification of school materials and reports for the purpose of facilitating the understanding of students and families.
- Leads SPS Indian Education Program and establishes program priorities.
- Develops and evaluates Indian Education programs.
- Collects and analyzes program and participant data, and develops recommendations to improve program effectiveness.
- Presents information and training sessions to SPS staff on Indian Education programs
- Provides information to families about Huchoosedah Native Education programs and activities.
- Facilitates after school programs, Culture Nights, and Student Advocacy.
- Coordinates the applications and reporting for grant fund programs.
- Assures the grant programs are in compliance with state and Federal rules and regulations, and SPS policies and procedures.
- Writes grants for outside funding of program activities including granting agencies such as foundations, tribal groups, and city grant funds.
- Develops, communicates and implements a community plan with Native Education School District Staff, schools including principals, District administrators, and Native Community Based Organizations.
- Provides parents with information and training strategies to help their children to be successful in school.
- Provides student advocacy, and attends parent, team, IEP, and discipline meetings as needed.

- Proactive in educating non-native teachers.
- Knowledge of university programs that are fostering and building programs and endorsements that focus on the needs of Native children.

RELEVANT YEARS OF EXPERIENCE :
Five (5) years experience providing instruction and / or educational services to Native American youth and their families;
Experience working with Native American youth in an urban educational environment. Grant writing experience.
SUBSTITUTION :
Additional experience will substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSES :
Certificated teacher.
CLEARANCES :
Criminal Justice fingerprint and background check.
Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work will be considered.
