Direct Hire Recruiter @ Burnett Specialists / Choice Specialists : Legal | Marketing | Human Resources | Administrative

Prestigious Downtown Firm seeking a well-rounded Human Resources Generalist with strong experience in multi-jurisdictional payroll and benefits administration , with payroll being the primary focus. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in a professional services environment and is confident in supporting a wide range of HR functions. Experience with UltiPro / UKG is required.

Job Title : Human Resources Generalist

Location : Houston, TX (Downtown)

Work Schedule : Hybrid (4 days onsite / 1 day remote after 90-day probationary period)

Salary Range : $75,000 – $95,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)

Schedule : Full-time, Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll

Process end-to-end payroll for multi-state employees, including reconciliations, adjustments, garnishments, and compliance reporting

  • Ensure accuracy and timely submission of payroll data using UltiPro / UKG
  • Assist with tax filings, profit-sharing distributions, and wage / hour compliance
  • Support audits and maintain confidentiality of payroll information
  • Benefits Administration

    • Support day-to-day administration of medical, dental, vision, life, disability, COBRA, FMLA, and 401(k) benefits

  • Coordinate enrollment processes and resolve employee inquiries
  • Liaise with insurance carriers and brokers as needed
  • Maintain compliance with benefit plan provisions and legal regulations
  • Employee Relations & Engagement

    • Respond to routine employee questions and escalate more complex concerns

  • Support employee recognition and communication initiatives
  • Assist in fostering a positive work environment through trust and transparency
  • Performance Management

    • Assist with performance evaluation processes and documentation

  • Help track employee development programs and coaching plans
  • Maintain accurate HRIS records of evaluations and job classifications
  • Onboarding & Recruitment

    • Facilitate onboarding activities including background checks and new hire paperwork

  • Coordinate interview schedules and job postings
  • Support hiring managers throughout the recruiting and onboarding process

    • Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience , with a strong emphasis on payroll
  • Experience in a professional services or legal environment preferred
  • Proficiency in UltiPro / UKG is required
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated tenure and stability in prior roles (3+ years per employer ideal)
