Essential Job Functions

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager for its Data Analysis & Insight team, which is part of the larger Business Development group.

The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, a deep understanding of data analysis methodologies, and experience working in a law firm or similar professional services environment.

This role is critical in helping the Directors within the group to drive the successful delivery of research and data projects that enhance our Firm's operational efficiency and strategic goals.

We are looking for an exceptional communicator and critical thinker with a history of taking initiative and a genuine intellectual curiosity.

You will possess excellent organizational skills, outstanding attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment and a professional and polished demeanor.

You will be oriented toward continuous improvement - of both your own work product and of the team as a whole.

You will be expected to establish yourself as a trusted, responsive resource to your BD colleagues and our attorneys. Excellent judgment and discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information is critical in this role.

In this role, you will communicate and collaborate regularly with a global team of approximately 160 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader BD, marketing, and communications efforts of the Firm.

Kirkland's international BD team provides seamless service to our attorneys with a focus on quality, innovation, and responsiveness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Under the supervision of the two Data Analysis & Insight Directors, manage multiple research or data projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within scope.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Finance, Human Resources, Risk, and external vendors.
  • Work alongside a team of experienced researchers and data analysts to manage projects in a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to track progress, address challenges, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Present project updates, insights, and recommendations to Directors or stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment with business objectives.
  • Partner with project leads to oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of complex data sets to provide actionable insights.
  • Partner with project leads to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data used in analysis and reporting.
  • Possess knowledge of or experience with advanced data analytics tools and techniques to drive insights and support decision-making.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in a data analysis or insight team, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Excellent leadership abilities, client service orientation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with various levels of personnel, internally and externally, including existing and potential clients.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, clients, staff, and guests of the Firm.
  • Ability to take initiative, adapt to change and work independently in high-pressure, deadline-driven scenarios while exercising sound judgment and making intelligent, informed decisions.
  • Collaborative approach to working within a team, including the ability to take direction and implement feedback.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of legal industry practices and trends is a plus.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is desirable.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to look at a document and spot conflicting pieces of information on the same topic.
  • Diplomacy, intellectual curiosity, and a positive attitude / sense of humor is preferred.

Technologies / Software

  • Experience with managing projects involving Data Visualization tools such a Qlik and Power BI is required.
  • Experience with SQL, R, Power Automate, JIRA, Azure, and Profisee is a preferred.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office software, particularly an expertise with advanced Excel is required.
  • Experience using Mergermarket, CapIQ, Preqin, Debtwire, PitchBook etc. to understand research is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
