Job Description

The Staff Counselor-Embedded position reports to the Director of the Counseling and Psychological Services Center (CAPS) whose primary functions are to serve the clinical needs of the TU campus community through direct provision of mental health services.

This Counselor will specifically focus on identifying and supporting members of the TU community and will be physically housed in strategic areas on campus to support adjacent departments, faculty, and staff in their support of TU students.

There will also be the opportunity to provide support and training to CAPS clinical staff, TU employees.

Some of the expected clinical services include individual, couples, and group forms of therapeutic intervention. Additionally, providing psychological assessments, psycho-educational programming, coverage for crisis response including after hours on call coverage, outcome assessment, and the supervision of trainees providing clinical services.

While direct therapeutic services are not offered to staff or faculty, this position provides clinical and non-clinical consultations to various departments, administrators, staff and faculty members, and departments across campus to address and support mental health across the TU community.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES :

• Conducts clinical interviews and initial consultations with students
• Provides individual counseling, couples counseling, group counseling, skills-based groups, psychological assessments, and after hours on-call rotation.
• Evaluates outcome assessment
• Participates in outreach and campus community engagement
• Participates in supervising and training of graduate-level mental health trainees
• Collaborates with ongoing research studies and student-based initiatives
• Establishes liaison relationships with departments and committees on campus
• Required Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Master’s degree from an accredited program in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or social work;
• two years of experience; eligibility for licensure within one year of hire; demonstrated skills through training and supervised experience in intervention techniques for prevention and treatment of concerns in areas of adaptive coping, interpersonal and academic functioning, anxiety, depression, crisis management, and appropriate referral / consultation with other resources;
• open to learning best practices in working with BIPOC, neurodiverse, LGBTQ+, and / or international students; knowledge of compliance with professional laws and ethics;
• and proven dedication to social justice and inclusion. Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Two years of clinical experience post licensure;
• doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program; Licensure as a Health Service Psychologist in the state of Oklahoma;
• experience working in a university counseling setting; experience with electronic record-keeping and documentation (preferably Titanium Scheduling Software);

and experience working with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, and / or international individuals. Physical Demands This position meets in person for a variety of clinical interactions, including occasional crisis situations after hours.
