EPS is looking for a talented individual to join our team as a Permit Specialist. This person will be performing a variety of routine and complex clerical, administrative, and technical work in the application and tracking of electrical permits to support the sales and installation teams.
The Job
Responsible for compiling documents, drawings, calculations, and applications for permits with state and local authorities having jurisdiction.
Applies and submits payments for permit applications, online and via mail.Tracks permit costs, status, and updates installation database to include closeout documentation and as-built drawings.
Coordinate with AHJ’s on unique and specific requirements. Maintain records.Applies for and tracks licenses required to monitor accounts at the state and local level.
Researches problems and complaints regarding compliance and permit approval.Modifies proposals when non-stock items need to be added.
Coordinates parts and equipment, internally and with manufacturers, for product evaluation setup. Review submittals for accuracy.
Other duties assigned as needed.
Requirements
Your Skills
High School diploma or GED.One (1) plus years’ experience in an administrative role. Understanding of fire and building codes such as NFPA 72, 70, 101, International Building Code, Michigan Building Code, UL, ADA, and other related codes.
Analytical abilities required to review blueprints and building plans.Proficiency with computer and software applications including MS Office and Adobe;
Internet sites such as manufacturer websites, municipality websites, and code libraries. Knowledge of company database software.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Must possess ability to listen and communicate professionally with local authorities and internal employees.
