Overview
The Clinical informatics II consistently searches for and implements systems and system improvements which allow clinicians to provide high quality care in the most efficient manner possible utilizing technology.
S / he collaborates with staff, physicians and stakeholders to optimize the usage of clinical systems by providing moderately complex system education and training, build / maintenance, quality outcomes, and providing support in accordance with organizational goals.
The CI promotes the integration between clinical documentation and IT regarding the development and translation of business needs with consideration of the impact that new or modified clinical information systems.
The CI ensure maximum use and efficiency of clinical systems using data analytics and reporting to guide direction of priorities.
Provide direct, hands-on education and support to staff in the use of technology in a manner that promotes patient safety and confidentiality.
Consistently strive to improve knowledge and skills in the development of clinical systems and processes.
Responsibilities
Optimization
Perform regular analysis of department workflow and provide recommendations for the automation of manual processes.
- by directly interacting with the department staff on a daily basis, perform ongoing assessment of whether technology is meeting the needs of the department by enhancing workflow.
- Engages in testing to support projects, optimizations and initiatives.
- Analyses the needs and requirements for clinical applications in acute and ambulatory healthcare settings.
- Provides leadership for clinical systems changes, projects and initiatives.
- Evaluate business process changes and IT enhancements to ensure the success and optimization of new or modified clinical information systems
- Managing Testing of Integrated Clinical Systems including Change Management Process Review, Script Development, and Issue Resolution.
Data Integrity
- Coordinates the collection and analysis of metrics that relate to benefits realization and the return on investment in clinical information systems.
- assesses workflow, tests and validates systems
- Manages the impact that new or modified clinical information systems have on patient care, quality, and data exchange.
- Maps real-life nursing practices to information applications.
- Develop and maintain documentation for users.
- gather and analyze information to determine overall system and process improvement benefits based upon pre-defined metrics
- develop targeted metrics which determine system benefits for the user department, including criteria which measure process improvement.
Education
- Trains, educates, builds and instructs clinical users on features, operation, and usage of software systems.
- Trains physicians and staff to adopt new workflows and tools utilizing change management methods.
- Train the use of audit tools, and assist in the development of mechanisms to identify and address user adoption issues.
In conjunction with the clinical educators, assist in the development of training tools and programs for upgrading the skills of the department staff.
Lead education efforts and provide direct hands-on training for department staff in the use of coputer hardware, software and related processes.
Compliance / Safety
Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas / RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs;
performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
- Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations / statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
- If required for the position, ensures all certifications and / or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
- Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
Documentation
- Provides documentation support to capture business area reporting requirements
- provides job aids, electronic education tools to support projects, education and documentation to support the solution and workflow.
- uses different media types to communicate on new and existing education needs

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in nursing and / or other clinical healthcare fields- Required
Master's Degree in nursing and / or other clinical healthcare fields- Preferred
Certification & Licensures
Current RN license in the state of Arizona or pharmD or other license (not MA or LPN)- required
Cerner Fundamentals Class completion- Required within 6 months from date of hire
LEAN Six Sigma or Influencer training- Preferred
Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of direct work experience in an acute / ambulatory setting- Required

Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs
