Job Title : Lab Assistant
Location : Indianapolis IN 46227
Duration : 6 Months+
Schedule : 1 : 00 pm -9 : 30pm M-F with rotating weekends and holidays(we also have weekends only shift available where candidates will work for 12 hrs shift for Saturday and Sunday only )
Pay Range : $19-$20 per hour
Pay rate is based on years of experience and educational qualifications.
Job Summary :
The Laboratory Technician will perform daily activities crucial for the smooth operation of our lab. The primary purpose is to carry out various routine laboratory functions with precision and accuracy to support the laboratory professional staff and enhance overall production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities :
Specimen Management : Sort, receive, and manage specimens within the department. Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting specimens into sample cups, and checking specimens for clots and fibrin.
Equipment Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and ensure they are functioning correctly.
Laboratory Tasks : Centrifuge specimens, print extra labels, record data (e.g., temperature charts), and handle specimen storage and retrieval.
Reagent and Media Preparation : Prepare reagents and media required for testing procedures.
Quality Assurance : Perform QA / QC duties as assigned, resolve pending lists, and find missing samples.
Safety and Compliance : Decontaminate work areas, perform weekly radioactive wipe tests, and dispose of biohazardous materials.
Follow all PPE requirements and safety regulations.
Record Keeping : Maintain files for department records and change gas cylinders as needed.
Computer Use : Utilize the laboratory computer system and operate PCs for data entry and reporting.
Training and Competency : Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate for the role.
Qualifications :
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical assistant training is helpful. Math and science courses preferred.
Experience : No prior experience required. Training will be provided.
Skills :
Ability to establish work priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Capability to retain information once learned.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers and customers courteously and respectfully.
Special Requirements :
Must be detail-oriented and able to handle several tasks simultaneously.
