Job Description

Manages and coordinates the activities for assigned Business Banking Underwriting department. Ensures quality service and effective support for all of the assigned internal and external customers.

Accomplishes results through the effective management of staff that may range from lower level non-exempt through exempt level professionals.

Administers corporate policies and procedures and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Conducts underwriting review process in a manner designed to minimize the bank's risk while employing problem resolution techniques in approving loans.

Provides support and training for all staff, including underwriting guidelines for underwriting staff.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically eight to 10 years of related experience

Preferred Skills / Experience

  • Effective supervisory and management skills in the Business Banking or Commercial Underwriting space
  • SBA Lending experience and thorough knowledge of SBA SOP
  • Expert level of knowledge of all underwriting functions
  • Strong organizational, managerial and problem-solving skills
  • Well-developed customer relations skills
  • Proficient interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of credit policies, credit analysis, procedures and philosophy
  • Strong analytical skills in relation to evaluating asset utilization and goals
  • Demonstrated analytical and risk analysis skills
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in nCino, Moody's Credit Lens and Microsoft Suite preferred

The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role.

In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).

Pay Range : $120,700.00 - $142,000.00 - $156,200.00
