WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As a Bar & Billiards Room Bartender, you will present qualities reflecting the professional and proper atmosphere of the Bar & Billiards speak-easy 1920's feel.
You will be responsible for serving guests at the bar top as well as preparing beverages for the servers; pouring and preparing beer, wine, and cocktails.
The Bar and Billiards Room Bartender position is part-time. Weekend availability on Fridays and Saturdays is required.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Satisfy guest requests in a timely manner while providing a positive and friendly experience
- Take beverage orders from customers and servers, and serve drinks as requested, paying extreme attention to detail
- Mix beverages using an extensive range of ingredients including liquor, bitters, soda, water, sugar, and fruits; prepare, slice, and pit fruit for garnish
- Collect payment from guests, issue receipts and / or change; abide by all cash handling procedures
- Abide by all company and state guidelines regarding food handling and the sales and service of alcoholic beverages
- Ensure all bar tools, glassware, and the bar area are maintained throughout every shift to the highest cleanliness standards
- Maintain a well-stocked bar with adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and any other accessories
- Organize the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory
- Conduct inventory count when necessary
- Assist in any other aspect of the lounge service when necessary
- Complete side work duties such as polishing silverware and glassware and silverware, rolling silverware, setting bar amenities, etc.
- Maintain regular and punctual on-site attendance with the ability to work a flexible schedule which may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays when business requires
Job Requirements
Education / Experience :
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One to three years of bartending experience preferred
- TABC Server Permit required within 60 days of hire
Skills :
- Excellent communication skills with guests, team members, and management
- Proficiency in restaurant POS and inventory applications
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills
- Ability to work efficiently with strong attention to detail
- Classic and modern cocktail recipe knowledge and understanding of wine and beer varieties required
Physical & Mental Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, sometimes more than 8 hours
- Ability to quickly prepare, open, and serve beverages
- Ability to apply patience and understanding to all persons and situations.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-demand, fast-paced environment with changing variables
- Ability to perform well under pressure to meet the needs of guests, team members and / or management
Work Environment
The work environment includes high guest contact; may involve varying conditions and circumstances with guests, staff, visitors, etc.
