POSITION SUMMARY
The Mgr Construction will be responsible for organization, implementation, scheduling and overall completion and acceptance of construction projects.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and direct construction project from conception to completion, ensuring timely completion and customer satisfaction.
- Manage the planning, materials, building, and budget of a construction projects; and negotiates and provides cost estimates.
- Oversee all onsite and offsite construction to monitor compliance with building codes, safety regulations and plans.
- Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors.
- Meet contractual conditions of performance.
- Select and oversee the work of specialized contractors and employees, and ensures work is of high quality and on track.
- Report on status and progress of project and budget matters to management and / or clients.
- Plan ahead to prevent problems, and resolve any emerging issues, delays, emergencies, etc.
- Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses.
- Analyze, manage and mitigate risks both for the company as well as workers on site.
- Select appropriate construction methods and strategies; and schedules and coordinates construction processes so that projects meet design specifications.
- Mentor, coach, train and develop team.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
- Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred.
- 8+ years progressive construction experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Routine travel either locally, nationally, and / or internationally may be required.
- High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
- Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
- Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
