Job Overview
A law firm is seeking a Taxation and Wealth Planning Associate Attorney to join its team in Raleigh, NC. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in general tax law, trusts and estates, and estate planning.
This role involves working with high-net-worth individuals, corporations, family-owned businesses, and tax-exempt organizations to provide strategic advice on tax and wealth planning matters.

Key Responsibilities :
- Advise clients on tax planning strategies, including estate, gift, and income tax matters.
- Draft, review, and implement estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
- Represent clients in trust and estate administration, including preparing federal estate tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns.
- Counsel clients on business succession planning, especially for family-owned businesses and closely held corporations.
- Work with private foundations and other tax-exempt organizations on formation, governance, and compliance.
- Collaborate with corporate attorneys on tax aspects of business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations.
- Analyze the tax implications of investment strategies, charitable giving, and wealth transfer.
- Represent clients in tax disputes, audits, and appeals with federal, state, and local tax authorities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and minimize tax liabilities for clients.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and high-quality service.
Requirements :
- Experience : 2-3 years of experience in general tax law, trusts and estates, and estate planning.
- Education : Juris Doctorate (JD) required.
- Specialization : A Master’s Degree from an LLM Taxation program is strongly preferred.
- Licensing : Must be licensed to practice law in North Carolina and South Carolina.
- Communication Skills : Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, with a proven ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
- Academic Record : A strong academic background demonstrating analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience :
- Experience working with trusts, estates, corporations, family-owned businesses, and tax-exempt organizations.
- Familiarity with private foundations and other charitable organizations, including legal compliance and governance issues.
- Knowledge of tax planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals and their families.
Skills and Competencies :
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple client matters efficiently.
- Strong client service orientation, with a focus on building lasting client relationships.
