Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Reassignment : Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b / c service as an Education Program Assistant 2.
Eligible List Appointment : Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for this title, you may receive a canvass letter.
You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.
Section 70.1 Transfer : Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b / c service in any of the following titles : Education Credentials Specialist 1.
Candidates must also possess a bachelor’s degree to qualify for transfer.
Provisional Appointment : In the absence of an eligible list with three or more candidates willing to accept a position, a temporary provisional appointment may be considered.
For provisional appointment, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b / c service as an Education Program Assistant 1 or Agency Program Aide.
Provisional candidates must take the examination for Education Program Assistant 2 when it is next offered and must be reachable on the resulting eligible list to maintain employment.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Education Policy is seeking a candidate for an Education Program Assistant 2 position in the Office of Special Education (OSE).
This Office works to promote educational equity and excellence for students with disabilities, oversees the implementation of federal and State laws and policies for students with disabilities, provides general supervision and monitoring of all public and private schools, serves New York State preschool and school-age students with disabilities, and provides technical assistance to parents and school districts.
Under the direction of a Supervisor, Education of Children with Disabilities, the incumbent of this position will support the work of the Office of Special Education by providing assistance in the areas of policy, professional development and contract development and implementation as required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Coordinate logistics and assist in preparing materials for regional meetings, webinars, conferences, and seminars;
- Arrange statewide meetings for our Educational Partnership;
- Work with our Technical Assistance Partnerships to oversee the development of high-quality professional development materials and 508 compliance;
- Maintain a master network calendar of meeting dates, times and locations;
- Utilize Excel and other systems to analyze data and generate reports;
- Assist in monitoring grant, contract, and MOU expenditures;
- Assist with Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests;
- Maintain our public websites;
- Monitor our office mailboxes and provide technical assistance by phone or email to internal and external stakeholders; and
- Maintain data systems to track and monitor the contract work.
