HDR is looking for a Water / Wastewater Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, OH. Candidates for the position should have experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis, with a focus on combined sewer and separate sewer systems, and H&H in support of civil design.
Our clients include local, state, and federal agencies.
Our team is growing and have a range of challenging and innovating projects. We work within multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to flood management, water supply, FERC relicensing, and ecological enhancements, providing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, including hydrology development and analysis;
1D / 2D / 3D hydraulic / hydrodynamic modeling, FEMA flood insurance studies, drainage analysis and design, erosion analysis, and sediment transport.
The preferred candidate would have experience in a combination of these subject areas.
Skills such as task management, GIS, technical writing, and / or experience with InfoWorks ICM software, planning studies, alternatives analysis, H&H in support of wet weather studies, design experience with wastewater collections system, and muti-disciplinary coordination (between civil, geotechnical, structural, etc.
would be considered beneficial.
The candidate is expected to be a key part of project delivery teams; mentor junior staff; manage small- to medium-sized projects;
and effectively interact with clients and peers. Candidates should be able to work independently, but also enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.
The candidate must have strong writing skills and good internal review processes. Candidate will perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years water / wastewater experience
- Professional Engineering License in Ohio
- Experience with planning and design combined sewer and sanitary sewer systems wet weather improvements
- Experience in reviewing hydraulic models and QC of engineering calculations
- Strong communication and listening skills, including the ability to talk to clients
- Experience with InfoWorks ICM Hydraulic Modeling
- ArcGIS, data analysis, and reporting experience
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Proficiency with writing technical memoranda and presenting to clients and stakeholders
- Leadership and organizational skills
- Mentor young engineers
- Advanced 1D and 2D modeling of complex hydraulic settings
- Task and project management experience, including overseeing budget, manpower, and scheduling of subtasks within a larger project scope
- Familiarity with additional model platforms, such as HEC-RAS, SWMM modeling products
- Design experience using AutoDesk products, including AutoCAD

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
- Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Pay Transparency Cleveland : $72,310 - $103,300.
