Position Summary
California Baptist University, an evangelical Christian university affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention, invites applications for the Aviation Science Program Director position (tenure-track faculty) to begin Fall 2024 in the Gordon and Jill Bourns College of Engineering’s Aviation Science department.
Pay Range The compensation for this appointment will range from $130,000 $150,000 annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this faculty appointment.
Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of Qualifications Qualified applicants must have a Master’s degree with significant industry experience;
Ph.D. is preferred. Candidates must embrace the mission of the University through evidence of a clear understanding and commitment to teach through the integration of Christian faith and learning.
Teaching Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for leadership and teaching several undergraduate aviation science courses including, but not limited to : Privat Pilot Ground, private flight I & II, Instrument pilot ground, commercial multi-engine ground, commercial flight I & I, and airline management.
In addition to teaching, the individual selected will be expected to support the broad teaching mission of the department.
The candidate will also cooperate with colleagues in the optimal functioning and maintenance of all building properties associated with the Aviation Science Department.
This position further serves as the college liaison with Facility and Planning Services, Safety Services, and the Office of the Provost for all construction, remediation, and capital projects.
Additionally, this position works closely with the Dean’s Council and Aviation Science Department Chair in executing strategic plans and priorities as set forth by the Dean of the College of Engineering, including but not limited to overseeing budgeting, purchasing, emergency response services, Aviation Science IT support, and service activities both day to day, long term, and off hours, when the need arises.
