WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Youth Environmental Thinkers (YET) Program, delivered via a hybrid model of in-person and online activities, is designed to introduce, and enhance the knowledge and understanding of the connection between people and nature.
This goal is accomplished while implementing the curriculum designed to inform, challenge, and foster participation in activities focused on connecting with self, people, and nature.
The Alumni Mentor serves as staff to participate in curriculum decisions, and implementation of the day to day responsibilities with the interns under the leadership of the Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities & Scope :
- Work responsibly with the interns as directed and assigned by the program coordinator or designee.
- Participate in the development of curriculum content and encourage consistent participation by the interns.
- Monitor the submission of weekly assignments completed by the interns, and provide feedback as assigned.
- Make sound, independent decisions while engaging with the interns based on assigned responsibilities and expectations.
- Participate with the interns in virtual and in-person sessions dictated by the curriculum and carry out general programmatic activities.
- Comply with safety and group engagement rules and regulations.
- May work in variable weather conditions, requiring physical exertion and / or muscular strain.
- Work hours are generally Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 : 30am to 3 : 30pm CST.
- This is a part-time (18 hours per week), short-term position running May 14 to July 18. Work will include online assignments and sessions;
and in-person activities at the Indian Boundary Prairies preserve located in Markham, Illinois.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU
If you have been a Y.E.T. Intern and would like to serve as a staff person this position provides this opportunity. There will be continued active learning about self, others, the natural and social environments that they impact and are impacted by.
The Alumni Mentor will provide leadership and support for the interns as they learn to define and dialogue about climate change from both an environmental and sociological perspective.
This is a unique opportunity for a former intern to apply what was previously learned as an intern who successfully completed the program made possible by the world’s leading conservation organization.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- A former Youth Environmental Thinker intern 18 20 yrs. of age.
- Experience taking direction and collaborating effectively with leaders; and interact with others respectfully and professionally.
- Experience working in and leading groups.
- Access to a computer and Wi-Fi to complete online assignments.
- Access to reliable transportation.

SALARY INFORMATION
The pay for a candidate selected for this position is generally $19.00 an hour. This rate only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA.
Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
