SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location : Washington
Pay Scale : £75- £100 per day
Required : September 2024
Contract Type : Part-Time / Full-Time
GSL Education is looking for an individual with a passion to support the Social, Emotional, And Mental Health (SEMH) needs of young people to join as SEMH Teaching Assistant in our client schools in Washington .
Job summary :
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant , you will play a crucial role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, helping students overcome barriers to their education.
Key responsibilities :
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
- Support classroom activities and facilitate a positive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, counsellors, and other support staff.
Requirements :
- A recent degree or specializations in special education, psychology, social work or a related field that is particularly relevant for SEMH teaching.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective support strategies.
- An updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
