The Assistant Director of Donor Relations and Engagement is primarily responsible for supporting the proper stewardship of Georgetown University’s top donors, as well as engagement strategy for development prospects.

These engagement activities serve to deepen a donor’s commitment to Georgetown, thank them for their ongoing support and share with them new initiatives and university priorities.

This role will work closely with development staff and those in the stewardship department to ensure that we are thoughtfully and strategically engaging Georgetown’s community of donors.

The diversity of workload requires teamwork, flexibility, efficiency, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for a wide variety of assignments.

This position also requires tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in dealing with members of the University community and the University’s donors.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

In consultation with the development team, plan and help execute donor recognition events, such as a building dedication, gift celebration, or chair inaugurations with these events primarily taking place on campus.

Manage annual basketball suites for donors, manage the 1789 Society, and organize Top Donor Receptions during JCW, Commencement, and Reunion.

Build and maintain the guest list and create briefings and bios, working with budget parameters and external vendors and other event-related duties as assigned.

Support the regionally-based Associate Directors (West and Northeast), as well as the Senior Director of Donor Relations and Engagement in receptions and stewardship events throughout Georgetown’s principal markets.

Work directly with the Senior Director for Donor Relations & Engagement on the development of a pipeline for suggested event attendees at presidential and high-level university speaker and engagement events.

Coordinate across the Development team and work closely with the Prospect Management team to identify the donors where event invitations and engagements will strategically further a cultivation or solicitation conversation.

Ensure that the Donor Relations team is maintaining correct data and oversee other administrative needs, as needed.

Work Interactions

The Assistant Director of Donor Relations and Engagement reports to the Senior Director of Donor Relations and Engagement.

The Assistant Director of Donor Relations and Engagement works closely with the following staff (but not exclusively) : Strategic Initiatives team, Associate Director(s) of Donor Relations, including regionally based team members, Donor Relations Coordinator, Unit and Regional Development officers, Stewardship Department, Special Events, Data Analytics Group, Budget and Business Operations, Communications team and many other key stakeholders across the Office of Advancement.

Staff, faculty, university administrators, donors, parents, non-alumni constituents as well as high level donors and key volunteers.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

2-3 years of administrative, event planning, fundraising or other relevant experience

Excellent writing skills

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications; Knowledge of Salesforce a plus

Independent thinker, creative, and not afraid to take initiative

Strong attention to detail

A strong sense of customer service and a positive attitude

Ability to successfully manage interactions with a wide array of personalities in a professional and positive manner

Work Mode Designation

Pay Range :

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is :

$20.16 - $31.30

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
