Title : Operator, Heavy Equipment
Under direct supervision, operates and transports various types of heavy equipment; provides training to personnel on heavy equipment;
and supervises classified employees and maintains efficient working relations with other employees in the DeKalb County School District (DCSD).
Essential Functions :
The following duties are representative for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Operates heavy equipment such as tractors, side loaders, track loaders, motor graders, boom and bucket trucks, dump trucks, chainsaws and other gaspowered machines.
- Drives equipment and materials to job sites and maintains all tools and equipment.
- Trains personnel on the use of heavy equipment.
- Plans and executes work orders.
- Performs difficult tree work; assists with concrete work; performs drainage work; performs work on athletic fields.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum three (3) years of closely related industry experience and demonstration of proficiency necessary to perform the duties for the position.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PERMITS :
Valid Georgia Class B Commercial Driver's License required.
