OVERVIEW :
Operators will support manufacturing and distribution operations for our world-class coating solutions. The Fridley, MN plant is looking for top-caliber, technically capable Plant Operators who are action oriented, can make quality decisions quickly and possess excellent trouble shooting skills. The successful candidate in an Operator position will be trained in all facets of production (pre-mixing and material loading for batches, filling product into shipping containers, distribution, testing, sampling, and cleaning) to learn these essential duties of the position. The incumbent must operate production equipment safely to ensure the highest quality and correct quantity in accordance with the production schedule, standard operating procedures, and supervisory instructions. Position duties and responsibilities can change regularly based on business needs. Operators will understand the mechanics of how to operate various types of equipment with confidence. Types of equipment include but are not limited to; labeler, filler machines, air pumps, high speed dispersers, air mixers, and weight scales within the department. Solve routine problems associated with job responsibilities. Ensures the highest product quality possible while adhering to all safety, environmental and work rules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs all duties in a safe working manner, following all of Axalta's safety policies and proceduresBlend batch to designated formulaLearn how to fill-off batches into various container types at determined weightsRecord and document all pertinent information when completing batchesUse system devices to reconcile inventory into batchesRecord all adjustments made to batchesUpon completion of batch make sure work area is cleaned upResponsible for pulling materials from warehouse and returning to correct locations as well as proper documentation of bins being pulled from.Follow batch fill-out instructions as they relate to filter / straining requirements, container requirements, agitation of material requirements and labeling requirementsSelect approved batches to be filled by ship date or supervisors' instructionsSet up filtering equipment per batch ticket instructions and operate filling equipmentDirectly responsible for housekeeping and control of waste generationOperation of powered material handling equipment (PMHE) to move, store, load, and unload hazardous finished product(s)Unloading and loading of bulk tank wagonsMinimum Requirements :
High School Diploma2+ years chemical plant / paint making experience preferredAble to demonstrate basic computer skills, math and problem-solving; mechanical, numerical, and verbal aptitude to learn our jobs quicklySuccessfully complete a pre-employment mechanical aptitude test and interview processSuccessful completion of background check, physical and drug screening is requiredMust be able to read and follow, weight fractions of ounces, and measure accurately by gallons, pints, and ounces (good math skills)Must be able to use various forms of PPE including respiratory protectionAbility to use hand tools and lift up to 75 lbs. and work at heights at or above 30 feetFrequent lifting, walking, standing, pushing, and pullingAbility to work with assigned schedule, overtime or other assigned schedules
