Our client, a leading innovator in the field of home appliances, is currently seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join their dynamic team based in North New Jersey / Mahwah area.
This role focuses on overseeing the electronic design aspects of their appliance line, including both analog components such as power supply and sensors, and digital elements which may involve complex processors with WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities.
Responsibilities encompass schematic design, Bill of Materials (BOM), and printed circuit board (PCB) layout, along with the development of embedded firmware and Python scripting.
Role
The successful candidate will lead the design and development of product firmware utilizing microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS), ensuring compliance with industry standards throughout PCB artwork, design, and fabrication processes.
Collaboration with UI / UX teams is essential to create intuitive product interfaces, while also interfacing with vendors and factories to optimize production efficiency and resolve technical issues.
The role requires effective collaboration with Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design teams to seamlessly integrate hardware components.
Key qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in hardware development
- Proficiency in PCB schematic capture and layout tools (e.g., Altium)
- Experience with electronic and small electrical appliance product development
- Expertise in firmware development using microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Knowledge of analog and digital hardware development, including processors with WiFi and Bluetooth
- Familiarity with LCD displays and user interface design
- Ability to develop embedded firmware and Python scripting
- Experience interfacing with vendors and factories to optimize production processes
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines and deliverables
