In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules to support our customer’s next generation networks.
We are looking for a Reliability Engineer to join our team. This person will be responsible for all the reliability related activities of the research and development of the optical products for telecom and datacom industries, especially of the optical cross-connect switches to be developed and manufactured in Fremont, CA.
This person will work with multi-discipline teams, including sales and marketing, product line managers, electrical, mechanical, and optical R&D teams, and work with colleagues of different geographic sites to ensure the reliability of the developed fiber optical products.
Especially, this person will interact extensively with third party fabs to ensure the reliability of the optical MEMS chips.
What You Will Do
- Cooperate with the development team to develop reliability validation plan of new products according to products characteristics, customer’s requirements as well as conforming to industry standards.
- Work with project leaders to identify design risks from the view of reliability and help to perform thorough DFMEA.
- Work with process engineering leaders to develop the validation plan of processes and help to perform thorough PFMEA.
- Develop the assessment plan of product lifecycle in real application conditions.
- Develop the aging condition of new products according to product characteristics.
- Work with engineers to do failure analysis during the product development and manufacturing stages.
- Understand, support, and contribute to current Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and / or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in material science, reliability engineering, applied physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, etc.
- At least 5 years of reliability related work experiences
- Experience with optical modules, components or subassemblies
- Experience with reliability engineering principles and reliability test procedures
- Experience with statistical process control
- Experience with statistical tools, such as the JMP software
- Experience with reliability testing standards and methods, such as Telcordia standards
- Experience with common reliability phenomena, failure mechanism, and common failure analysis methods
- Experience with quality and reliability tools, technologies, and methods, such as FMEA, Six sigma, FRACAS and / or 8D
What Will Put You Ahead
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree
- Bilingual with Mandarin
- More than 2 years’ experience in optical communication industry reliability work
- Familiar with the characteristics and usage of various optical adhesives, optical glasses, ceramic, and metallic materials.
For this role, we anticipate paying $140,000 - $180,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
