Summary
The Accountant II is responsible for assisting in the preparation, analysis, development and implementation of Howard-Tilton Memorial Library's financial objectives.
They work with the Director of Administrative and Strategic Services and provide input and recommendations to facilitate fiscal decisions using analysis of historical trends, performance indicators, bench-mark data, and projection methodologies.
Conducts applicable research. This position is also responsible for day-to-day expense transactions, reconciliations, and record management of accounts receivable and payable as related to library expenses and revenue.
Serves as primary library liaison with the Tulane Accounting Office. Provides occasional systems training to library managers.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, practices and procedures.
- High level of proficiency with spreadsheet and database software, as well as Windows environment and all components of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel
- Ability to quickly learn and use a variety of financial software tools
- Experience in financial analysis with strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience with estimating and reporting
- Highly organized; ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize work assignments
- Great interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact professionally, courteously, and effectively with internal and external contacts.
Able to coordinate and work well as part of a diverse team

Required Education and / or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
- Two (2) years directly related experience.

Academic library and / or university experience
