Job Title : Inside Sales Representative

Reports To : Sales and Customer Service Manager

Overall Purpose :

This position is a critical member of the Des Moines Sales Team, responsible for maintaining and growing customer accounts and relationships.

The role includes providing top-tier service in interactions and deliverables to customers, including quotes, product solutions, and customer service, ensuring the delivery of state-of-the-art structural products in an ethical, timely, and professional manner.

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes :

Sales Design & Customer Project Support :

  • Coordinate and prepare solution-based product quotes for structural products, ensuring all customer needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers regarding technical questions, shipments, products, and deadlines.
  • Maintain and grow customer relationships through proactive communication and status updates on quotes, orders, and shipments.
  • Autonomously determine product solutions and pricing for customer projects within the quoting process and parameters provided.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on complex quote requests to ensure accuracy and alignment with customer specifications.
  • Utilize reports and other tools to track and follow up on outstanding quotes.
  • Work within a team to generate sales leads and grow the business.
  • Assist the Sales and Customer Service Manager in updating and maintaining sales forecasts.
  • Periodically travel to trade shows, industry events, and customer locations to network and build long-term relationships.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis regarding customer concerns, complaints, and shipment errors.
  • Engage in process and product improvement projects.

Position Requirements :

Education :

  • High School Diploma required; undergraduate degree in an applicable field is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CAD systems and some grain industry experience is preferred; or an equivalent combination.

Experience :

  • Experience within sales and / or customer service, specifically within large and / or structural design, is preferred.

  • Solution-based problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize information effectively.
  • Provide guidance to customers on technical questions, order processes, and status updates.
  • Ability to read construction drawings or blueprints is preferred but not required (training provided as necessary).

Technology Aptitude / Skills :

  • Intermediate skill within Excel is required.
  • Ability to utilize and / or learn to utilize ERP (Oracle) and CAD software.

Language Skills :

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions :

  • Ability to sit at a desk for 6+ hours per day.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and view a computer screen for the majority of the day.
  • Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, stoop, crouch, and carry items frequently.
  • Ability to climb grain bins, support towers, and catwalks.

Environmental Conditions & Travel :

  • Primarily exposed to a normal office environment with moderate noise.
  • Occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting manufacturing departments or client locations.
  • Travel : Up to 5% may be required.
