Saint Joseph's College of Maine seeks an individual for the position of Wom en's Lacrosse Coach . This person will support the department of Athletics by managing and administering all aspects of the Women’s Lacrosse sports program;
assuming assigned administrative responsibilities; assisting with home game management.
Primary Duties will include :
Coaching the sport stressing fundamentals, leadership, good character and team play. Teaching wellness i.e. - nutrition, conditioning, mental preparation.
Preparing for contests through scouting. Structuring a sound practice plan, and monitoring the personal, academic and athletic development of student-athletes
- Mentoring students-athletes teaching life skills, monitoring the eligibility status and promoting the academic progress and persistence toward graduation
- Managing operations - scheduling, budgeting, fundraising, purchasing and care of equipment, planning and supervision of team travel
- Performing all duties within the parameters of department principles and NCAA legislation
- Organizing and implementing a team compliance program for academics
- Hiring, managing, and reviewing varsity assistant coaches and student workers
- Evaluating recruits for the necessary skills and intellectual abilities needed to succeed as a student-athlete at Saint Joseph’s College
- Working collaboratively with the enrollment management staff, campus partners, faculty, staff and athletics department colleagues to recruit and retain student-athletes
- Develop and achieve annual and long-term enrollment targets for sport program
- Monitor the eligibility status and promote the academic progress of student-athletes
- Assist with administration of select fall and winter home games; to include setup, greeting of officials and visiting teams, monitoring fans and game staff
Education and Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- At least three (3) years college coaching or varsity high school coaching preferred.
- Experience recruiting and retaining student-athletes required.
Supervision and Scheduling Demands :
Receives minimal supervision, meets on a regular basis with the AVP / CARO. This is a FT 11-month position. Evening, nighttime, and weekend hours are required through attending athletic contests and campus events.
Weekly / daily schedule will be determined by game schedule and intramural schedule to be regularly reviewed and determined with AVP / CARO.
