Position Overview :

As the Process Plant Engineering Manager, you will oversee the management of engineering design, equipment and process piping build, and production process start up for the new Brute Hydrazine plant and scale up of the Brute Peroxide facility.

This role involves leading design initiatives, managing technical teams, and ensuring that the design of the plant operates at maximum efficiency and safety.

You will be essential in establishing best practices in plant design and production process optimization.

Key Responsibilities :

Plant Design and Engineering :

  • Lead the design of the new Brute Hydrazine production facility, including material transfers, equipment design for purification and packaging, abatement, and process piping to support the plant,
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including chemical and process engineers, to develop engineering specifications, layouts, and designs.
  • Oversee process modeling and simulations to optimize plant efficiency, production yield, and safety measures.

Project Management :

  • Develop project plans, including scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for plant construction and setup.
  • Lead project milestones, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery of plant infrastructure, equipment installation, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors for equipment procurement, installation, and testing.

Production Process Management :

  • Design and implement production processes, focusing on quality, yield, and efficiency.
  • Ensure alignment with quality control standards.
  • Work closely with R&D teams to integrate new process technologies and optimize hydrazine or hydrogen peroxide purification methods.

Maintenance and Reliability :

  • Establish preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and longevity of plant equipment.
  • Support the Manufacturing Engineering department with issues occurring post-start up.

Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience : Experience in chemical plant design or chemical production is required.
  • Technical Experience : Deep knowledge of chemical plant design, process engineering, and experience with hydrazine or hazardous chemical production is highly desirable.
  • Project Management : Proven track record of leading large-scale engineering projects, with strong skills in project planning, budgeting, and resource management

Other Requirements :

  • Regular travel to El Centro, CA is required.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work in environments that require frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

  • Relocation : Please note that this position does not include relocation assistance. Candidates should either be local to San Diego or willing to relocate at their own expense.

  • The salary for this position is $130,000 to $145,000 per year.
