Job Purpose :
The Senior Facility Manager reports into the BorgWarner Corporate Administrative Office. This position will create and support an outstanding environment for employees to work in at the Propulsion Technical Center by providing best-in-class facilities management.
The Senior Facility Manager will have responsibility for the contractual management of facility-related service providers, project management for construction work, building maintenance and managing the workplace environment.
Key responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Senior Facility Manager is to provide facility management services aligned with BorgWarner policies, procedures and guidelines to support a modern and sustainable office and laboratory workplace environment.
- Provides leadership and managerial support to a diverse team of direct reports including maintenance staff, facilities coordinators and the shipping and receiving department
- Leadership and successful management of large and small scale construction projects and other building improvements
- Ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization
- Development and delivery of executive level presentations, business cases and reports
- Responsible for all activities related to the efficient operation, supervision and management of the building services.
This includes managing facility security, janitorial, cafeteria, landscaping and snow removal contractors
- Preparing capital plans and expenditures involving building, equipment, and other facility related plans for renovation, maintenance, safety and environmental
- Maintain department monthly budget and forecast including cost savings activities and energy management to achieve superior performance
- Thorough knowledge of the architectural and engineering methods, practices and procedures for facilities construction and / or renovation
- Respond to building and equipment alarms and emergency situations, 24x7. Act as a conduit of information for upper management and communicate with all employees in building related emergency situations, power and service disruptions
- Demonstrate knowledge of facility management as well as technical knowledge and skills related to plumbing, electrical, systems furniture and HVAC
- Manage the preventative maintenance of equipment, building systems and life safety equipment to meet health and safety standards
- Develop and track facilities KPIs
- Inspect building structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations
- Manage documentation on building processes, drawings and procedures in conjunction with records retention policies
- Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs
- Control activities like parking space allocation, waste disposal and recycling
- Lead sustainability efforts in line with BorgWarner goals
- Conducts space planning activities according to business unit requirements
- Support management systems such as ISO 14001, 45001 and 50001
- Planning and supporting special events (annual employee car show, holiday events, building tours, customer events, etc.)
What we’re looking for
- Education : Associates degree required, Bachelor’s preferred; CFM or industry equivalent preferred
- Minimum 5 years experience in facilities management
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Experience with general office computer tools (word processing, spreadsheets, office communications)
- Experience with AutoCad desired
- Thorough knowledge of facilities management methodologies for office, laboratory or industrial settings
- Experience managing third-party contracts and accountability for quantifiable results
- Must have ability to work a flexible schedule. This includes evenings, weekends and holidays. 24 / 7 / 365 on call for building related emergencies
- Strong organizational skills - detail oriented, ability to prioritize and be proactive. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
