JOB SUMMARY :
Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments by performing the following duties.
DIRECTLY SUPERVISES : None
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Builds and completes repairs using basic carpentry principles
- Installs and repairs pipes, valves and other plumbing fixtures using basic plumbing principles.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
- Using basic electrical principles completes electrical work on equipment, structures, etc.
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
- Will abide by all safety requirements as outlined in the Safety Manual or as required by individual departments and / or job functions.
EDUCATIONS and / or EXPERIENCE :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Horse Racing Commission. Must keep and maintain a valid driver's license.
