George Fox University is seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to join the George Fox Digital (GFD) team as Program Director and oversee the asynchronous online Liberal Arts Core Curriculum (LACC) and other liberal arts-oriented programs and courses.

About the Job :

GFD Program Directors are tasked with teaching, coordinating adjuncts, and supervising ongoing revisions and improvements.

The Program Director, Humanities is a full-time faculty-administrator position that is half-time teaching and half-time administrative.

This role requires at least a part-time presence in our Newberg campus to collaborate with the larger GFD team.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Overseeing online Liberal Arts Core Curriculum (LACC), Academic Success & Professional Development (ASPD) courses, and general studies-related degree programs.
  • Motivating, mentoring, evaluating, and coaching adjunct faculty; recruiting and training new faculty members as needed, including maintenance of GFD online adjunct training.
  • Managing Canvas faculty course sites for content areas, approving syllabi and Canvas course sites, and overseeing assessment tools.
  • Attending regular GFD team meetings, working closely with other Program Directors, the Associate Dean, the Program Coordinator, the Registrar, and Admissions / Enrollment staff to ensure excellence.
  • Teaching an online course load of 12-15 credits across 11 months.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc.

and works well with a variety of people.

We're looking for candidates who have :

  • A master's degree; terminal degree in any humanities or liberal arts area is preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and ongoing commitment to continuous improvement within field of expertise.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in online teaching and learning, and ability to teach those methods to affiliated faculty, specifically during onboarding processes.
  • Ability to manage a large set of remote faculty, providing them with timely professional development and assuring their consistent quality with teaching diverse student populations.
  • Conceptual understanding of andragogy for crafting curriculum to serve the best interests of adult learners.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to function as part of a highly-collaborative team in the rapid production of online materials and courses.
  • A commitment to working with diverse populations.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Salary and rank :

The Program Director is a faculty-administrator position. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
