Audubon is currently seeking a Senior Buyer to join our team in our Metairie, LA Office. The Senior Buyer will evaluate assigned contract scopes of work.
Recommends and implements sourcing / contracting strategies for the largest, most complex or highly technical projects. Frequently serves as a lead.
Procures equipment, bulk materials and services for assigned projects. Ensures purchases are within budget and in accordance with all project specification and delivery schedule requirements.
Conducts commercial bid evaluations and prepares, issues and administers purchase orders.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Evaluates assigned client contract scopes of work and prepares project procedures.
- Reviews requests for assigned materials, parts and / or services and verifies specifications with requester as necessary.
- Develops unique solutions for complex sourcing problems.
- Identifies approved supplier or sources new supplier and ensures timely preparation and communication of RFQ (Request for Quote).
Corresponds with or interview suppliers to negotiate price, specifications and delivery information.
- Maintains hard copy and electronic files in conformance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality System requirements.
- Develops Bidders Lists for assigned RFQ packages, prepares RFQ specific commercial documents and issues RFQ to suppliers for bid.
- Coordinates clarifications / revisions as required.
- Conducts Bid Opening and prepares Bid Ranking Prepares bid clarification requests and issues to selected bidder(s) and coordinates bidder clarification meetings.
- Performs preliminary Commercial Evaluation with project team to select successful bidder and to identify negotiating points.
- Coordinates meetings and leads negotiations with selected bidder.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS :
- High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Management, Logistics or related field highly desired or equivalent work experience in purchasing and supply chain.
- Product knowledge of all materials and services being purchased, what is being built and supplier base required.
- Demonstrates complete understanding of project procurement process, procedures and mterminology, sourcing strategy, commercial terms, applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures.
- Advanced understanding of economic factors which affect project costs, schedule and profit impact of decisions.
- Progressive experience in procurement / contracting, supplier quality and business systems, and development and implementation of sourcing strategies.
- Experience with bid evaluation, purchase negotiation and commercial recommendation.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers.
- Ability to persuade individuals with differing opinions or interest to change criteria or methods, accept findings or reach agreement on a variety of technical or commercial points.
- Proficiency with Procurement Software, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software and MS Office including Word, Excel and / or Access, PowerPoint with ability to download, manipulate and report data.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with suppliers and intra-company interfaces.
- Ability to pay close attention to details.
- Good planning, organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast paced environment.
