Summary
The Cafeteria Attendant must be attentive to the overall operation of the
ICS cafeteria, including correct food production techniques and adherence to established recipes, food presentation and quality.
The cafeteria Attendant works in a verity of roles : Food production, customer service, and utility / dish washer.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and handle food in accordance with sanitary regulations established by the Department of Agriculture
- Responsible for running the overall appearance of the cafeteria, prepping and cooking food, helping any customers who need extra attention.
- Responsible for the quality and quantity of food prepared and served; able to estimate quantities of food and time needed to meet menu requirements.
- Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the ICS Cafeteria.
- Responsible for providing excellent customer service to staff and visitors.
- Work cohesively with all team members throughout the building.
- Communicate and interact with team members, supervisors, and managers
- Actively participate in generating sales and contribute sales generating ideas / specials.
- Assist in daily cleaning duties as instructed by supervisor, including but not limited to washing dishes, cleaning food preparation surfaces and equipment and sweeping and mopping floors
- Provide support for secondary ICS location, if needed
- Follow all applicable ICS Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Highschool diploma or equivalent; formal cooking training preferred
- ServSafe certification preferred
Experience
- 3-5 years of commercial restaurant experience
- Must be able to perform short order cooking and a thorough understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
- Demonstrated dependability and consistency with all policies and procedures in a Cafeteria.
Required Skills
- Must have the ability to interact well with staff and visitors and be able to resolve any customer complaints or re-direct to the Cafeteria Manager.
- Must possess exceptional customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact with visitors, supervisors, and staff throughout the building.
- Must possess self-direction in management of time, work & related activities.
- Must be able to read, write, understand & follow written & oral instructions.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an area that is adequately lighted and ventilated. Works in a kitchen environment.
Physical Demands
Specific physical characteristics and abilities are required to perform the work, such as agility, dexterity and long periods of walking, standing, bending, carrying or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more for eight (8) hours daily.
