Deputy Administrator

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is seeking a full-time (40-hour week) Deputy Administrator in the Administration division.

This position partners with the Public Health Administrator to implement the mission of Champaign-Urbana Public Health District.

Duties and Responsibilities include :

  • Oversees the preparation and administration of the district's operating and capital budget and the authorization and implementation of approved expenditures.
  • Implements priorities outlined by the Public Health Administrator for financial resources and comprehensive human resources management.
  • Works with Division Directors to promote cooperation, leadership, and communication.
  • Oversees the management and coordination of on-going data collection and analysis, and data-informed program changes to accomplish and maintain national accreditation.
  • Directs the work of the information technology team to manage health information technology, including electronic medical records, geographic information systems and syndromic surveillance systems.
  • Coordinates and participates with community partners in planning for emergency preparedness.
  • Monitors federal and state policies and regulations related to public health for impact on the district.
  • Monitor grant funding opportunities and assist with grant writing activities as directed by the Public Health Administrator.
  • Directs all District contract negotiations and contract administration.
  • Fulfills the role of Public Health Administrator in the absence of the Public Health Administrator.
  • Public Health Emergency Response Responsibilities : All District employees must be able to respond to public health emergencies when needed and appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements include :

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in public health, public administration, human services, social work or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of prior responsible and administrative experience in planning and program management, or closely related area.

The starting annual salary for this position is $131,342 for a 40-hour work week.
