Internship Program Overview
The Polaris Powertrain Engineering Internship is tailored 12-week paid summer internship designed for emerging sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in a leading global powersports industry.
This program is for future leaders who seek a culture built on innovation, passion, and collaboration.
As a Powertrain Engineering Intern, you will be given impactful, project-based assignments that allow you to have exposure to multiple facets of engineering to help you develop and define core areas of interest and strengths.
These projects directly align with business objectives and could include targeted development in these areas :
- Build upon your key Powertrain skillsets in the areas of Design, Development / System Integration, Manufacturing / Quality / Supplier Quality, Test or Project Engineering.
- Receive personalized goals and projects that track directly to the needs of the business and allow you to have a hand in key company initiatives
- Collaborate with the Powertrain Team to design, develop and implement various engineering projects
- Drive continuous improvements and problem solving for engineering roadblocks
Internship Locations Could Include : Roseau, MN; Wyoming, MN; Osceola, WI; and other potential locations.
This program serves as a primary feeder into our rotational , providing you as an intern with the foundational skills and experiences needed to excel in your career.
Upon completion of the internship program, those who demonstrate exceptional performance and a passion to learn may be offered a returning internship or a full-time position, depending on eligibility.
In addition to the meaningful project work you will get exposed to; you have the opportunity as an intern to network and participate in intentional programming designed for all interns within the program.
This includes professional development offerings with the following :
- you are paired with one of our DP associates for mentor support throughout your 12-weeks.
- weekly functional and centralized learning sessions to broaden your knowledge base, both within and beyond your program.
- you will have intentional time with peers and leaders at Polaris to build your professional network.
- throughout your 12 weeks, you will collaborate with fellow interns on a cross-functional team to develop and propose innovative solution(s) to an internal case study you and your team will present to our executive leadership.
- participate in our 3-day event jam packed with professional development, structured networking, a DP graduation event, executive speakers, and a team ride on some of your favorite Polaris vehicles.
you will be invited to volunteer alongside your fellow interns.
you will showcase your career aspirations and recap your internship experience during final presentations.
The Selection Process :
Applications are open from September December 2024. You will be invited to participate in a MS TEAMS panel interview with an identified HR business partner and functional leader.
Upon accepting an offer, you will partner with the Early Talent team in Spring 2025 to be matched to your specific intern role / project, team, and location through an intern matching process.
You will be asked to complete a survey that provides insights to help us match you with a real-life business opportunity best suited to your strengths, development areas, and interests.
Intern Relocation Assistance :
Polaris offers a relocation program for interns who qualify through Weichert Workforce Mobility. To qualify for these services your home address must be 35 miles or more from the office where you will be working.
Benefits include a lump sum (grossed up to offset tax liability), access to a relocation counselor to explain the resources available to you and aid securing short-term housing available to you.
Your responsibilities will include daily transportation to / from office.
Required Qualifications :
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering degree with an intended graduation date between December 2024-May 2027.
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
- Able to complete a full 12-week commitment working 40 hours per week within the dates : May 19th August 8th, 2025.June 2nd August 22nd, 2025.
- Geographic willingness to partake in the intern matching process.
- Proven strength in the following : analysis and creative problem solving, communication, interpersonal relationships, self-motivation, and leadership.
- The drive to actively contribute to both personal and company-wide goals through creative and innovative thinking
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software tools (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word).
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience working with engines
- Completion of at least two years of university coursework
- Previous Internship / Co-op experience
- Previous leadership experience in work, organizations, or classroom
