Maintenance Tech - Level 2

Employment Classification full-time

Job Purpose : This is an advanced position that independently performs general maintenance and repair to homes. In this position you may be expected to act as a lead worker in larger projects.

To work under supervision with other technicians in larger repair or related construction building projects.

Examples of job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to :

  • Routine maintenance of buildings
  • Basic plumbing and electrical
  • Basic carpentry involving decks and wall framing
  • Troubleshooting maintenance issues
  • Installing flooring, ex. Vinyl, LVP
  • Drywall repair
  • Minor appliance maintenance
  • Working on-call shifts for some weekends / evenings / holidays
  • Learning new skills as needed
  • Trim carpentry a bonus

Training available.

2 Years in construction / maintenance field

High School diploma, or equivalent

Basic knowledge of tools and safety expectations

Additional minimum eligibility qualifications :

Valid Driver’s License and own transportation

Ability to pass background check

Key knowledge, technical skills and abilities :

  • Use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English
  • Ability to use technology, including computers, tablets and cell phones
  • Ability to keep work areas and vehicles clean
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with customers

Travel : Within Dane county. For on-the-job travel, either mileage will be paid or a company vehicle will be provided.

Work environment : May include outdoor work during all seasons and weather, indoor work in large or small spaces, some work may require using a ladder or heights.

Physical demands : This is a physically demanding job, and examples of physical requirements include, but not limited to, the ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time, push / pull / lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs, wear protective gear as needed, go up and down stairs (both with and without carrying weight), climb a ladder, use tools (including power tools and hand tools), reach, bend / stoop, couch, kneel, balance, reach above shoulder height, walk and twist, and engage in repetitive motions.
