Seeking a hands-on Quality Manager for a growing (non-automotive) manufacturer of industrial electrical products and systems.
This person will own the quality function, implementing world-class quality control systems and driving quality standards, procedure / policy development and compliance, as well as continuous improvement of root cause analysis / problem solving and corrective actions.
This position is based on site in Novi, MI (M-F, single shift with great work / life balance).
Responsibilities include :
Formulate, document, and maintain quality control standards and ongoing quality control objectives including ISO 9001 certification.
Design, implement, and maintain quality assurance systems, processes, and standards in accordance with regulatory and industry requirements (ISO, ANSI, NEMA, UL, etc.).
Design, develop, and implement quality control training programs and identify and lead change initiatives within the department.
Identify and implement KPIs, improve the team’s RCA and problem-solving RCA capabilities, and drive the adoption and consistent utilization of best-in-class quality tools.
Implement Permanent Corrective Actions (PCAs).
- Conduct periodic audits to assess the effectiveness of the quality management system and analyze quality data to identify trends and recommend improvements,
- Evaluate production processes and monitor / review product designs to ensure compliance with quality standards and ISO 9001 : 2015.
Partner with plant management to coordinate objectives with production procedures to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
Oversee inspection activity for products throughout the production cycle.
Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams and leadership. Develop and provide training on quality assurance processes and techniques.
- Provide exceptional internal / external customer service. Quickly and thoroughly investigate and correct quality related issues / complaints and recommend corrective actions.
- Create, document, and implement inspection criteria and procedures. Supervise hourly inspection and testing employees and ensure that appropriate quality testing is conducted and that test results are accurately documented.
Provide leadership and direction to the quality team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Communicate quality control philosophy to key personnel within company and apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
- Interact with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts. Investigate, communicate, and correct nonconforming parts received in a timely manner.
- Provide expertise and maintain active role on continuous improvement and safety teams.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field. Quality certification(s) a plus. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification strongly preferred.
- 5+ years Quality Management experience, including continuous process improvement, extensive RCA / problem-solving toolbox, implementing QMS, and supervision.
- Demonstrated success in coaching and training in problem solving methods and root cause analysis.
