CJ Logistics loves collaboration and a team environment. Therefore, this role is located at our Corporate Office in Des Plaines, IL and has a hybrid work arrangement (4 days on site and 1 day remote).

Candidates must live within a commutable distance to the corporate office.

Salary range - $182,000-$200,000

Position Overview :

The Director of Procurement will lead successful business integrations, identifies enterprise-wide procurement process improvement opportunities and works to create, and optimize procurement operations, and further enhance operational excellence to support CJ Logistics America efficient growth and profitability.

They will provide critical guidance, insights, and strategic frameworks to CJ Logistics America senior management team to drive enterprise-wide transformational initiatives, create and execute quality and efficient Procurement and process improvement opportunities.

The Director of Procurement is an integral part of the CJ Management team, working side-by-side with their colleagues to ensure the success of CJ Logistics America global business priorities and strategic initiatives around the procurement of our vendors.

The role requires a high degree of business acumen and partnership across the different business functions to connect, implement, and manage supplier agreements while ensuring compliance with policies and processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

• Establish Governance and Sourcing protocols / rules (e.g., terms, preferred request for proposal (RFP) practices) for the organization.
• Overseeing procurement governance at the category level
• Driving the continuous improvement of the procurement function
• Continuously reviewing and analyzing the supply market to identify potential new suppliers and supplier innovations
• Execute excellence in RFIs, RFPs, should-cost modeling , negotiation, specification optimization, contracting, and performance management.

Develop spend visibility, management, and reporting.

• Supporting the management, monitoring, and mitigation of third-party risks
• Identifying procurement opportunities (both demand and procurement levers) in collaboration with business liaisons and market events
• Establishing and owning procurement processes and systems
• Partner with Accounts Payable and IT to drive digital transformation across the Procure to Pay process
• Establishing and monitoring controls to help drive company-wide compliance with approved protocols and negotiated contracts
• Serving as the primary point of contact for all vendor negotiations outside the RFP process
• Executing key value delivery agenda, including annual planning of value delivery, market events, suppliers' management, etc.
• Monitoring and being accountable for procurement performance against set metrics
• Leading end-to-end contract approval process alongside teams
• Delivering trainings to employees throughout the company to ensure understanding and compliance to procurement processes and controls
• Maintaining vendor relationships including negotiating contract terms
• Developing cost-improvement plans
• Maintaining a procurement budget

Requirements and Qualifications :

• Experience as Procurement leader for a global company with multiple subsidiaries
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Operations, IT, or relevant field of study is required
• 7+ years of either Procurement, Finance, or Operations experience, with some portion of experience in procurement
• Prior experience in creating and building a new procurement function is strongly preferred
• Passion for problem-solving
• Interpersonal communication skills
• The drive and ability to build a best-in-class procurement function from the ground up
• Ability to understand and act on the procurement needs of the business
• Excellent project management and analytical skills
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• Ability to work flexibly, balancing multiple requests and changing priorities
• Comfort working in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
• Strong understanding of key functional areas and trends in the industry
• Ability to act as consultant, facilitator, communicator, and project manager
