Location : Fayetteville, North Carolina - Fort Liberty

Type : Non-Exempt

Work Schedule : Full-time, Day Shift

Compensation : $36.00 - $36.00 per hour ($5,000 Sign-on Bonus)

Skookum is seeking a dedicated and hard-working HVAC Technician III with a positive attitude.

Typical duties include but are not limited to :

Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems in residences, department stores, office buildings, and other commercial establishments, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout, mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment, and installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools.

Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source;

installs air and water filters in completed installation, injects small amount of refrigerant into compressor to test systems and adds Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure.

Responsible for installation, repairs and troubleshooting HVAC malfunctions.

Responsible for performing preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.

Responsible for utilizing wire diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and drawings to perform repairs and maintenance.

Responsible for installing and cleaning air and water filters.

Responsible for installing and programming thermostats.

Fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork and chassis parts.

Responsible for connecting motors, compressors, temperature controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connecting control panels to power source.

Communicates and interacts directly with the customer, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.

Responds to customer inquiries and complaints.

Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to customer.

Communicates with scheduler to update status of repairs and estimate completion dates.

This position may provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.

Must wear PPE as required.

Additional general maintenance tasks as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum of 5 years of HVAC experience.

HVAC and / or EPA certification required.

Required : Must meet all North Carolina licensing requirements at a Master's or Journeyman's level or have a North American Technician Excellence (NATE) Certification or ESCO Institute HVAC Excellence Professional Level Technician Certification or be willing to successfully enroll in an accredited apprenticeship program.")

Must meet all requirements and perform all duties of HVAC Technician I and HVAC Technician II.

Physical Requirements :

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance.

The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

Must be able to lift and / or move up to 70 pounds.

May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Requirements :

A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum's insurance.

Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
