GENERAL PURPOSE
Responsible for overseeing database administration tasks; this role involves monitoring and maintaining database performance, and implementing necessary optimizations.
Tasked with maintaining comprehensive documentation of database structures, configurations, and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Strong time management skills are essential.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversee and manage all aspects of database administration, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management, to ensure optimal database health and reliability.
- Designs database structures, stored procedures, and database views in collaboration with district application developers ensuring quality data collection for the purpose of ensuring quality data collection.
- Develop data warehouse extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes and reports using industry-standard methodologies for dimensional modeling, supporting the district’s data warehouse initiatives.
- Design and implement SSIS packages for data integration, transformation, and loading (ETL) tasks.
- Monitor database systems to proactively identify and resolve issues, conduct regular performance analysis, and implement enhancements to improve system efficiency.
- Actively participate in projects from inception to completion, collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, design database solutions, and oversee implementation and testing phases.
- Supervise and mentor colleagues, offering guidance, training, and support to foster their technical expertise and productivity within the team.
- Demonstrate a high level of expertise and professionalism building relationships with teams, stakeholders and vendors.
- Maintain and prepare a variety of documents, both manual and electronic, to ensure up-to-date references, audit trails, and effective communication of activities and information.
- Research applications, vendors, consultants and emerging technology to recommend products that meet district requirements for capabilities and costs and provide technical assistance to district staff.
- Perform other related duties as required / assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in job-related area from an accredited college or university or comparable experience preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of DBA experience with increasing levels of responsibility preferred.
- K - 12 technology experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
- Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.
- Related Microsoft Database Administrative Certification Preferred

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
- The work is light work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
