Summary of Job Duties :

The Contract Analyst provides analytical and operational support for the Contracting & Payer Relations department. This position creates and analyzes financial activity reports, performs analyses of payer contract performance, models reimbursement terms and generates / analyzes other financial activity reports to support payer contracting negotiations and management.

The Contract Analyst maintains the professional contract management software, including building contracts and loading rate schedules.

The Contract Analyst is to have basic knowledge of physician managed care contract language, terms, and reimbursement methodologies.

This position requires frequent interaction with the revenue cycle team and payors to resolve claims issues and to facilitate meetings as necessary

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, accounting or related field PLUS on (1) year medical revenue cycle experience (i.

e., hospital / professional billing, reimbursement, managed care contracting) OR Associate Degree PLUS minimum three (3) years medical revenue cycle or managed care contracting experience OR High School Diploma PLUS five (5) years medical revenue cycle or managed care contracting experience.

  • Strong knowledge of CPT / HCPCS & ICD-10 codes
  • Must possess proficient skills in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze, problem solve and apply critical thinking in performance of job duties.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and prioritize responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience using Epic electronic health record system.
  • Experience in payer contracting and reimbursement.

Additional Information :

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain new and updated fee schedules for Contracted Commercial Payors, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Build new and updates to existing rate / fee schedules in the contracting management system.
  • Generate / analyze financial activity reports using various tools, including contract management software, PowerBI, EPIC and Microsoft Excel.
  • Prepare payer summaries for monthly review using the contract management software, including review of contract variances and feedback from the Revenue Cycle team.
  • Research payer policies, including monitor / review payor amendments / changes and provider news / updates that will affect professional reimbursement.
  • Model payor policy or contract changes to assess the financial impact on reimbursement.
  • Negotiate / process prompt pay agreements for approval.
  • Accurately complete value analysis request in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Contracting team in managed care contract negotiations.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with payors, internal revenue cycle teams and other key internal teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.
