WHAT YOU'LL DO

We're seeking a dynamic and resourceful Sustainability Senior Lead to join our Social Impact Team. The Social Impact Department at Braze uses technology, expertise, and resources to transform how the world connects and communicates to shape an equitable and more sustainable future.

The department encompasses Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), DEI, grantmaking, and Sustainability Programs under the pillars of community, equity, and environment.

This person will play a critical role in leading , growing, and further executing our Sustainability programs. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, track program performance against internal goals and external commitments, and communicate updates to stakeholders.

Their ability to analyze data, build strong relationships effectively, and work with third-party scope 3 suppliers to reduce our overall carbon footprint will be key to their success in this role.

The Social Impact Program is funded by Braze in addition to our Braze for Social Impact Fund, in which Braze will donate 1% of equity over the next 10 years, starting in 2022.

This role will report to the Vice President of Social Impact (directly reporting to our CEO).

Responsibilities :

  • Lead Braze's sustainability initiatives, including our science-based target submission and annual greenhouse gas emissions audit.
  • Execute the company's sustainability strategy, including our efforts to achieve a near-term science-based target, including implementing emissions reductions programs, focusing on supplier engagement, developing internal policies (e.

g., business travel) and sourcing renewable energy.

  • Contribute to Braze's ESG reporting efforts, including our annual ESG report, SASB, and SEC climate-related disclosures.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships, such as Watershed, our greenhouse gas emissions platform.
  • Partner with relevant internal teams in order to promote and achieve our sustainability goals.

WHO YOU ARE

The ideal candidate is someone who is deeply passionate about Sustainability, has strong project management and communications skills and is able to collaborate with and influence a wide variety of departments, partners and stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with a track record of operational excellence across a variety of projects and departments.

  • Experience working in a sustainability role contributing to or leading sustainability and climate programs, either in-house or at a consultancy.
  • Experience overseeing a science-based target, including the target validation process and updating and communicating progress on the target as the business evolves.
  • Track record of building climate and emissions reduction programs, including the ability to engage and partner with vendors to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Experience in GHG emissions reporting, ESG reporting and ESG related frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with data independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including senior stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional project management and organizational skills.
  • Passion for sustainability, including a vast network that extends beyond Braze.

For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $127,500 and $155,000 / year with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $150,000 and $182,000 / year (including bonus or commission).

Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

In addition to cash compensation, Braze offers full- and part- time employees a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that all Braze employees own a piece of our company.
