DESCRIPTION :

Assume principal responsibility for assuring the physical ability of the Stratford plant to operate on an established manufacturing schedule.

Such responsibility to include the integrity and soundness of the building, all utilities and environs, maintenance issues, and equipment used in the manufacturing process.

Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operations of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assist in maximizing the reliability and utilization of manufacturing support equipment, utilities, and buildings. Increase manufacturing profitability by maintaining, altering and introducing such equipment, utilities and building facilities in the most efficient manner with low cost and minimum down time.
  • Submit and implement improvement projects in the maintenance facilities and chemical process areas. Implement and promote sustainable practices, including energy management, waste reduction, and recycling programs.
  • Work with department heads to develop revised departmental equipment layouts, as required, to reflect the best work flow conditions and efficiency at the lowest cost.
  • Respond to the need for emergency building or machine repairs with dispatch and efficiency in order to minimize manufacturing interruptions;

respond in similar manner to emergency situations occurring during other than normal business hours.

  • Prepare cost estimates and realistic planned schedules for repairs, modifications, and new installations that may be required in order to establish sound costs and realistic targets for management decisions.
  • Plan, justify and direct the installation of all energy conservation programs. Maintain record of work completed to abate problems related to safety.

Must obtain asbestos manager certification to direct maintenance employees on relevant repairs.

  • Obtain estimates for individual projects from outside contractors. Evaluate and recommend contractors based on cost reliability and balance with internal resources.
  • Plan, recommend, and supervise project work for maintenance and similar activities performed by maintenance crews and outside contractors.
  • Design and implement new equipment and utilities to meet the changing needs of the manufacturing process. Manage layout design, office and factory moves, relocations and space reconfigurations.
  • Assist in the preparation of capital budgets and acquire such approved capital as directed, resulting in a systematic updating of equipment and facilities, thereby improving manufacturing potential.
  • Direct project management responsibility for all maintenance assignments. Become proficient using Maintenance database to direct and prioritize work orders.
  • Participate in the development of operating budgets. Assume responsibility for the prudent management of budgeted funds intended to cover the costs of maintenance and landlord activities.
  • Select, train, promote, develop and recommend hiring and growth of persons in all job titles without regard to race, color, religion, sex and national origin.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Degree level knowledge in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering, or the equivalent in practical experience. Minimum of five (5) years of management experience, including the supervising of others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building trade practices and maintenance and energy conservation principles, with the ability to coordinate our programs with OSHA and EPA requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel.
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead diverse groups of people to successful task accomplishment, often in the presence of real deadlines carrying significant economic impact upon operations.
  • Capable and willing to respond to all manner of emergency calls received during and after normal business hours. Must be a competent, accurate decision maker.
