- Work in a multi-acuity unit; manage a mix of ICU and MSU level patients.- Care for patients post-heart cath, cardiac conditions (ACS / NSTEMI / CHF), post-surgical, overdose victims, cardiac arrest, detoxification for medical reasons, ventilated patients, septic shock, pulmonary edema, end-stage COPD, and oncology patients with complications.
- Participate in surgeries, including GI surgeries, high-risk colectomies, gastric surgeries for gastroparesis, vascular procedures, jaw reconstruction, pacemaker insertions, and orthopedic surgeries (spinal, joint replacement).
- Execute bedside procedures such as cardioversion, transvenous pacing, TEE, intubations, chest tube insertions, para / thoracentesis, central line insertions, epidural insertions, and lumbar punctures.
- Opportunity to learn new skills like ABG collection and U / S guided IVs.- Maintain patient ratios of 1 : 2 for acute patients up to 1 : 4 for Med-Surg overflow;
possible 1 : 3 if patients have lower acuity / medical status.- No CNA support available; collaboration with a 24 / 7 telemetry monitor tech and on-call RT for unstable patients as needed.
- Limited nurse adjustments to vent settings, focusing mainly on FiO2.- Access to consultation with an intensivist and 24 / 7 availability of a hospitalist and house supervisor.
- Flight team serves as a resource when not on transport.- Use Cerner charting system.- No floating required.- Orientation includes two days of hospital orientation and two days with a preceptor (one observing, one providing hands-on care).
- Participate in a weekend rotation every six weeks, with flexibility in scheduling when possible.- No on-call requirements or holiday commitments;
