Job Title : Social Worker
Location : Yuma, AZ
Shift : 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM
Duration : 13 weeks with possible extension
Position Description :
This role oversees the medical records program for a long-term care facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and VA regulations.
The Social Worker ensures medical records are complete, organized, and confidential while supervising Medical Records Technicians.
The position also utilizes Arizona Management System (AMS) methods for continuous improvement in work processes and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct complex and routine audits to monitor medical records for completeness and accuracy. Follow up on audits and report to Department Heads / Administrator.
- Verify compliance with federal and state mandates, including Medicare 5-day assessments, physician visits, and long-term care requirements.
- Compile and analyze medical care, diagnosis, and census data for quality assurance, risk management, and statistical reporting.
- Code diseases, diagnoses, and treatments using standardized coding systems for long-term care facilities.
- Serve as Custodian of Records, ensuring all releases of information comply with legal requirements and handling subpoenas.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to meet regulatory standards.
- Attend and participate in meetings, serving on required committees and leading staff meetings. Handle special projects as needed.
- Ensure physicians' credentialing files are complete and compliant, working with Physicians and Procurement to gather necessary documentation.
- Supervise and manage the work of Medical Records Technicians, conducting training, creating schedules, and providing regular feedback.
- Participate in the Arizona Management System (AMS) processes and the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program mandated by CMS.
Experience Required :
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in long-term care is required.
Education Required :
- LMSW required.
- Must hold a Master's degree in Social Work and an active social work license from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
