POSITION SUMMARY
The HARC is a grant-funded initiative through the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation and other funding sources. The HARC’s goal is to build a bridge between the pool of internationally-trained medical graduates (IMGs) and the need for linguistically and culturally competent healthcare providers in underserved communities.
More specifically, the program seeks to assist healthcare professionals from all over the world, who have come to New York and have not been able to practice their profession, obtain the appropriate credentials and licenses so that they can return to their healthcare field.
In collaboration with the HARC’s Director, the Associate Director-Case Manager is responsible for the provision of educational case management services, and counseling services to the center participants, as well as management of grant budgets.
The Associate Director will fully represent the program in the absence of the Director and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to give HARC’s candidates the tools necessary to reach their full potential.
This position is funded by external sources and is contingent on continued renewal of those funds.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position :
- Collaborate with the director to manage grant budgets which includes submitting payments to finance, meeting with finance on a regular basis, developing the budget for new proposals, creating a timeline to ensure that funding is spent according to grant guidelines, and keeping the Center credit card records.
- Collaborate with Center staff to recruit Center participants.
- Conduct assessments of Center participants to include the following : gathering information on professional education and professional work experience in country of origin, education / work experience in the US, summary of efforts / approaches in trying to practice profession, reason for migration and an assessment of motivation, strengths, areas of growth as related to achieving professional goals.
- Collaborate with Center staff to develop a Career Pathway Plan for each participant.
- Successfully provide case management services to assist participants in researching licensing processes, validating credentials, referrals for study courses, assistance with applications, research on alternative career programs, linkage to opportunities in the health care field.
- Provide brief supportive counseling, motivational counseling, and problem solving focused on professional transitions and professional adaptation in the United States.
- Conduct a follow-up assessment of participants to examine progress on interim steps and goals as well as barriers encountered.
- Provide other educational / support group activities for participants as needed.
- Collaborate with the Director and Center staff to generate data for grant proposals and reports and participate in the grant writing process.
- Collaborate with the Director to promote and advocate for participants by connecting with campus and community partners, employers, and other agencies.
- Collaborate with Center staff to maintain files for all participants in caseload and uphold professional standards of documentation of assessments, plans, and progress notes.
- Collaborate with Center staff to ensure the Center is diverse and inclusive and is providing appropriate resources to participants.
- Teach resource courses as needed (ENL, English for Healthcare Professions etc.).
- Create and implement a Center marketing and communication plan in collaboration with the HARC Director and the Office of Marketing and Communications.
- Coordinate the development of recruitment and other promotional and informational materials (website development, brochures, etc.).
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in education, business, social work, or health-related field
- Bi-multilingual proficiency in spoken and written English and an additional language is desirable.
- Willingness to work a flex schedule including evenings and one to two Saturdays a month.
- Experience in grant writing, case and budget management.
- Knowledge of health care professions in New York State.
- Self-starter with enthusiasm to establish Center’s processes and workflows.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to represent the Center to prospective participants and the community partners.
- Ability to interact with a variety of personalities in a professional manner.
- Ability to work professionally and ethically within a multi-cultural setting, including ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of persons, documents, data and communications.
- Competent in virtual working and teaching applications.
