Contract Technical Designer

M-F- 9AM-5PM

Position will sit locally in Framingham, MA

Hybrid Schedule

Works together with Technical Designer / Sr. Technical Designer to develop and manage technical aspects of apparel product category from original design concept to final production approval process.

This role collaborates with Sr. Technical designer and cross-functional teams to ensures approval of fits and production samples with constant focus and emphasis on design aesthetics, quality, and value.

Develops strong working relationships with internal and external counterparts.

Essential Functions :

Works closely with lead Sr. TD / TD Designer to understand daily priorities and responsibilities, manage and prioritize workload to help meet development and production deadlines.

Monitors and tracks all samples, as well as updates internal fit tracking reports.

Maintains daily correspondence with internal teams and overseas vendors

Coordinates fit schedule with PD / Design Team

Prepare samples for fitting by measuring and reviewing overall appearance, construction against technical specifications

Assist in live fit sessions with cross-functional team in attendance and taking clear notes to update technical specs

Provides recommendations on how to improve fit, construction, and quality of garment, following company’s standards and regulation

Communicates technical fit comments to agents / vendors via written comments, visual images, construction sketches, provides accurate grading, pattern adjustments.

Must be able to illustrate corrections through digital photos and sketches.

Approves fits / PP and TOP specification for bulk production.

Lead the development and fit approval process of a category / sub category under the mentorship of the Sr.Technical Designer

Assist TD Team to establish quality control standards

Assist with general daily task management based on need within the Technical Division

Qualifications :

Degree in fashion, technical design, or a related interest.

Relevant Experience or Prior Internship in Fashion industry, preferred

Understanding of garment construction and basic patternmaking, preferred

Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Word / Excel, Illustrator, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, preferred

Strong verbal & written Communication skills with the ability to take on initiatives

Ability to multi-task, proactively trouble shoot, problem solve, and effectively influence

Strong detail orientation, self-motivated teammate with outstanding interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team

Able to adapt to a fast pace constantly evolving environment
