Job Title : Dermatology Veterinary Technician

Job Type : Full Time

Shift and Schedule : 4 day work week, Wed-Sat alternating with Tues-Fri, some flexibility in specific hours

$5,000 sign on bonus

Guardian Veterinary Specialists is an independently owned, full-service 24 / 7 emergency and specialty care veterinary hospital in Brewster, New York.

We are currently seeking an experienced licensed or licensed eligible Veterinary Technician for a rapidly growing Dermatology Service.

In the recent years, more pets are experiencing skin and ear issues. Many require more personalized and advanced care. This position is an excellent opportunity to experience specialty medicine in a low stress environment and consistent schedule.

As a part of a growing service, you would be an integral part of the continued development of the department.

Job duties :

• Review and summarize history for appointments prior to the visit
• Assist with physical examination and collection of samples
• Review patient discharges with clients
• Review test results with clients over the phone
• Prepare, stain and interpret cytology samples
• Assist with various advanced dermatologic procedures such as skin biopsies, intradermal allergy testing, video otoscopy, and CO2 laser surgery
• Sedation and anesthesia of patients when necessary
• Prepare specific allergen therapy serum for patients
• Other tasks as needed

• Comfortable with client interaction and communication
• Interest in dermatology
• Desire to continually learn and grow
• Experience in general practice and ability to perform anesthesia are desired, but not required
• Must have reliable transportation
