Intralox, L.L.C. is looking for an experienced Controls Engineer for the ARB GLOBAL DESIGN TEAM. This individual will focus on Controls Engineering Standardization within the Food and Industrial Industries.

This engineer will work cross functionally with many other teams and will report to an engineering supervisor. This Engineer will work in close collaboration with product managers and solutions architects for developing mechatronics systems.

This Engineer will be designated as a subject matter expert with the focus off standardizing mechatronic controls solutions for Intralox Equipment products in the Food and Industrial Industry space. Responsibilities

  • Works under immediate supervision of senior team members.
  • Supports product managers and solutions architects in creating product development strategies.
  • Performs impact analysis on proposed solutions and changes.
  • Designs in CAD electrical control panel layouts, bills of materials and schematics.
  • Estimate electrical costs and create budgets per project or proposal scope.
  • Program PLC’s for control systems that include devices such as photoeyes, shaft encoders, barcode scanners, solenoids, scales, etc.
  • Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software. This includes supporting Mechanical and Electrical Field installers.
  • Must Follow all defined instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Assists with project commissioning and troubleshooting of system installations.
  • Produces technical documentation that can be tailored to different audiences.
  • Assists with the creation and teaching of associated training.
  • Perform Electrical System Audits to ensure high quality.
  • Verify that actual work matches all documentation. Requirements
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or like equivalent from an accredited Institution
  • 4+ years of related experiences reflected on solid knowledge of mechatronic controls engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with at least one of the following PLC and HMI development environments : oRockwell Automation Studio 5000 Logix Designer and FactoryTalk View Studio / Optix oSiemens TIA Portal and WinCC oCODESYS / Beckhoff TwinCAT
  • Ability to understand and work from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to understand manufacturer data sheets and apply them in practice.
  • Ability to configure PLC’s, HMI’s, computers, networks, cameras, and variable frequency drives which are used to control sorters, conveyors, and other related equipment.
  • Ability to understand and write source code using IEC 61131-3 programming languages (Primarily Ladder Diagram and Structure Text).
  • Ability to Manage Software Version and Change Control using Git and Git tools.
  • Ability to develop electrical documentation packages, descriptions of operations, interfaces between systems, and be on-site during startup to coordinate and help resolve issues.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills with engineering groups, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Comfortable and able to navigate a rapidly changing environment.
  • A self-managed individual who is a team player
  • Ability to travel, work weekends, holidays and overtime when required (estimated to 30% of the year).
  • Position located at Intralox offices in Baltimore, Maryland
  • Must pass drug screening and background check.
  • Must have the ability to lift 70 pounds and climb ladders. Desired Qualifications :
  • Experience with the following Developer Software : oPython, C / C++, Java, or similar oMatlab and Matlab Simulink
  • Experience developing software for PLCopen Motion Applications
  • Experience in porting code between different development environments / platforms (ex. Studio5000 to TIA Portal).
  • Experience with any of the following VFDs : oAB PowerFlex 525, 575, and 755 oSiemens G120 oSEW Movitmots, Movigear, Movi-C
  • Worked with the following Fieldbuses and communication protocols : oEthernet / IP, EtherCAT, and Profinet
  • Experience using Simulation and Digital Twin tools for software development.
  • Proficiency in Visio, AutoCAD Electrical, and AutoDesk Inventor.
  • Familiar with PTC Windchill PLM environment and Oracle ERP.
  • Deep understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and UL508A, IEC, and CE Standards and regulations.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
